James Cameron to Release Vegan Documentary

Award-winning director and vegan environmentalist, James Cameron, is the executive producer of The Game Changers, a vegan documentary aimed at challenging the myth that humans need to eat meat in order to survive.

The film, which is set to release later this year, will “introduce the world to elite athletes, special ops soldiers, visionary scientists, cultural icons, and everyday heroes—each on a mission to create a seismic shift in the way we eat and live,” according to the film’s website.

Cameron collaborates with director Louis Psihoyos (who also directed Oscar-winning Japanese dolphin slaughter documentary The Cove) and mixed martial arts champion James Wilks.

“The world’s strongest guy is a vegan,” Psihoyos said. “The world’s fastest guy, Carl Lewis, was the first to break 10 seconds, and he did it when he was a vegan. We’re trying to dispel the myth that you need protein from animals to become a real man.”

Cameron went vegan in 2012 for environmental reasons and has since become an avid advocate for veganism. In 2016, he appeared alongside actor Samuel L. Jackson in Eating You Alive, a documentary focusing on the adverse health effects of consuming animal products.
